My Artsy Weekend Bucket List (March)

Still thinking about what to do this weekend? Mama on Palette has compiled a list of art activities and events that will guarantee you and your kiddos an exciting and fun-filled weekend together!

This month, AYN (Arts in your Neighbourhood), will be building nest at Pasir Ris. AYN is an initiative by the National Arts Council, which brings enriching arts experiences to different neighbourhoods yearly.

1. Archipelago by Jaxton Su

Located at E! Avenue @ Downtown East, Level 1 from the 11th March to 28th March from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.

This exhibition draws inspiration from the phrase "No man is an island". This interactive large-scale mixed-media installation conveys that humans, as social animals, thrive better as a community.

The installation is made up of video art and sculptures co-created with residents of Pasir Ris, which reflects their interpretation of a miniature paradise island based on their memories of Pasir Ris.

2. Api’s Api’s Dreams by SYNDICATE

Head down to White Sands Shopping Centre and be enthralled by a light projection display! This exhibition will be on from the 18th March to 28th March, 7.45 pm to 9.30 pm daily.

Look forward to the artists’ reimagining of nature projected on the facade of the heartland mall. Experience the sights and sounds of Pasir Ris in this piece as sound recordings took on an evening walk along Sungei Api Api are woven into original compositions by music artists in accompany of the projection.

3. Dendang Warisan - Pasir Ris by Gendang Akustika Ensemble

Discover Pasir Ris through the sounds of urban Malay folk music with Gendang Akustika! Dendang Warisan (Songs of Heritage). This performance is a specially curated 40-minute digital programme with guest host Derrick Tay, featuring their new song about Pasir Ris, which is collaboratively composed together with students of the neighbourhood!

This performance will be on NACSingapore on Facebook, 27th March (Saturday) from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
