Introduction:
To celebrate and amplify the voices of mother and female artists all around Singapore, we are seeking submissions for Mama on Palette’s upcoming community book, Singapore in the Eyes of Mother Artists (SITE.MA).
Let your artworks meet others and weave in a unique story: how does motherhood change or reinforce your experience of living in Singapore? How does it affect the art that you make? How does art heal, inspire and empower you in your parenthood journey?
You are welcome to join this one-of-a-kind art project, if you are a mother artist from all walks of life, working with any type of visual art medium, to celebrate motherhood and creativity with us.
Objectives:

Empowering mother artists by providing a unique and memorable avenue to document their art journeys in Singapore

Portraying lives in Singapore via mothers’ lens, interpreted in art
-
Inspiring more mothers and wider community to embrace art and tell their own stories
Eligibility Criteria:
-
The artist is a mother or a mother figure.

The artist is either a Singaporean, PR, or a person of any nationality who has lived in Singapore for more than 6 months at the time of submission.

The artist is an official member of Mama on Palette. Register here if you are not currently a member.
Artwork Submission Criteria:

Each artist submits a body of works consisting of 3-5 artworks under one of the book’s themes below. An artist can tend up to 3 different themes through 3 separate submissions.

At least one (1) of the artwork submitted must be newly created in the last two (2) years and have not been previously published or exhibited, with the exception of the artist’s personal website or social media.

Artworks submitted must be an original creation and intellectual property of the artist. Plagiarised works, master copies, fan arts and AI-generated imageries are not acceptable.

We will not accept artwork that contains hate messages, offensive materials, or anything that violates the rights of any individual or group. We reserve the right to reject any submission that we deem inappropriate.

Preparing Your Submission
To ensure a smooth submission process, please have the following materials ready before opening the submission form link.

Clear images of 3-5 artworks that are relevant to the theme in jpg or png format. File sizes should be kept below 5MB per file. The artwork images should be properly labeled as “Theme_Artwork name_(Artist Name)”

Artist name and particulars - please ensure that this is the same name you use for Mama on Palette membership registration.

An artist bio (<100 words) describing the artistic experience and approach

A high resolution artist photo (selfie, passport photo or group photo are not accepted)

A link to the artist’s online portfolio or social media

Answer to the following questions:

Please explain how your artworks relate to the theme. How do you find Singapore, motherhood and the theme intersect in your art? (<300 words)

How does motherhood change (or reinforce) your perspective and your experience of living in Singapore? (<150 words) OR How does moving to Singapore change your perspective and your experience of motherhood? (<150 words)

What role does art play in your life? Has it changed over time? (<150 words)

Note: All requirements should be strictly adhered to. Submitted artworks that do not comply with any of the requirements will not be considered

Entry Fee:
The open call is exclusively for Mama on Palette members. For existing members, there's no Entry fee. If you are not yet a member, join now via https://www.mamaonpalette.com/join-as-a-member
Membership fee is non-refundable regardless if the artworks are selected.

Judging Criteria:

Artwork to be relevant and coherent with the theme and synopsis

Artwork should not portray / associate with any inappropriate contents / concepts / ideas that are discriminatory, judgmental or offensive

Artwork selected by the panel is considered final. No further discussion will be entertained
