Dr Geraldine Tan

Renewed my passion in art knowing that this methodology has been so beneficial for my clients

Geraldine Tan, founder of The Therapy Room, is a Registered Psychologist (SPS/SRP) and is also a Registered Clinical Supervisor (SPS). She has a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (California) and has more than two decades of experience working with individuals with a multitude of psychological problems. Geraldine is trained in a number of techniques and her repertoire of skills has attracted a variety of clients and is popular with both the local and expatriate population.

She has been running groups for special needs children since 2014 to present. In 2016 to 2019, she was commission by a treatment home for teens and a gazetted protected home that housed children who have been abused, to run Camp Global®, a camp that she developed using multisensorial activities.

 

Amongst the tools that she uses and integrated into the multisensorial activities, is Art Therapy. In fact, Geraldine is trained in artistic therapies including, art, play, clay and sand-play techniques. Her love for the arts started when she was young being trained in Chinese classical dance by a reknowned Beijing teacher. Art took a backseat during the academic years and was found with a renewed passion knowing that this methodology has been so beneficial for the clients. At her centre, you would spot art pieces that expresses the emotions of the clients. 

 

Geraldine dedicates her career to not only clinical works but outreach works. On top of her clinical practice, she conducts workshops and talks for numerous organisations, Geraldine is sought after by the local media and have been featured widely in the media including magazines, television and the internet to educate the public about the different disorders, earning her the title of “The People’s Psychologist”. She has an ongoing weekly radio and FaceBook live streaming session with the local national radio station to continue to reach out to the masses. She has been voted as one of the top psychologists in Singapore in not one but 3 websites and her centre lauded as one of the go-to psychological centres. 

 

At a personal level, Geraldine is a mother of 2 teens. She has involved her children throughout the years of her practice. Afterall, she believes psychologiy is a way of life. She continues to journey with all parents and never hesitates to share her stories should there be a need. We are proud to welcome Geraldine as a psychology advisor to Mama on Palette, and look forward to making more happier mamas through art and her professionalism.
